Some sessions feel like pure magic from start to finish—and that’s exactly how I’d describe Molly and Kyle’s engagement session at Island Beach State Park. Held on a quiet Sunday morning in late April, it turned into one of those serendipitous experiences that just works, even when the original plan doesn't.

Molly and Kyle traveled all the way from Connecticut for their engagement session, bringing along their sweet dachshund, Luna—who, by the way, might just be the cutest little pup I’ve ever photographed. She’s a huge part of their life and relationship, so it only made sense she’d be part of the session too. Luna is truly their little baby!

Originally, we had planned for a golden sunset session on Saturday, but Mother Nature had other plans. As we were en route, a sudden and severe storm rolled in—complete with tornado watches and heavy rain. In true go-with-the-flow spirit, we pivoted quickly and rescheduled for sunrise the following morning.

And I’m so glad we did.

The skies cleared just in time to give us the most beautiful sunrise lighting. The beach was completely quiet—no crowds, just the sound of the waves and the peaceful energy of early morning. It was just me, Molly, Kyle, and Luna, wrapped in laughter, love, and the calm of the sea.

One of the reasons I adore shooting at Island Beach State Park is because of its stunning dunes. The tall grasses and natural textures photograph so beautifully, especially with my editing style, which really makes the greens and neutrals pop. Between the peaceful shoreline and the dramatic, sweeping dunes, it’s one of my top recommendations for couples looking for a beach engagement session that feels intimate and organic.

Molly and Kyle’s chemistry was infectious—they radiate happiness together. The session was full of candid moments, laughter, and genuine love, the kind that reminds me exactly why I do what I do. I truly walked away from our time together feeling like I’d just spent the morning with friends.

I’m beyond excited to celebrate with them again this August at their wedding at Curtis Arboretum just outside of Philadelphia. If their engagement session is any indication, it’s going to be an unforgettable day!

If you're considering a beach engagement session this summer, Island Beach State Park is an absolute gem. Reach out—I'd love to capture something just as special for you.
